School Cooperative Challenge
International Year of the Cooperative Competition

We are delighted to link here the creative and informative short videos submitted for the Schools Cooperative Challenge! The videos present so many great ideas and display ingenuity in student’s co-operative efforts, writing their scripts, acting, filming and editing their videos.

May 11th is the date for our celebration Gala where our expert judges will announce the winning entries. Students and teachers who participated are invited to attend and the winning videos will be shown and prize money awarded.

Thank you to all of the students and teachers who have contributed so enthusiastically to this great display of talent and imagination!

A word from the Judges

“The Judges were impressed with the passion and commitment shown by all schools. The use of the technology including video, animation, sound and scenery all added to the entertainment value of the entries. As far as addressing the criteria, the winning entries showed a clear educational link in espousing the values of credit unions. There's a saying "It takes a village to raise a child"; you have shown us that it takes a child to raise a village - using your ideas and words to educate us, the viewers, about how credit unions and co-operatives build community. The judges applaud the spirit in which the videos were produced and look forward to seeing these young people enjoy possible future careers in film-making, communications, marketing and the co-op and credit union sector!”

IYC in Schools The Community Mutual Group Our CEO Kevin Dupe with the BackTrack Boys Adventure Playground Pavers

Welcome!

The Community Mutual Group provides trusted community banking for almost 70,000 members in the New England, North West, Central West and Hunter regions of NSW. With almost $1.0 billion assets under management, we are proud of our commitment to the community, and reinvesting a significant portion of our profits each year through social, educational and environmental initiatives.

To mark the International Year of the Cooperative in 2012, the CMG invites your school to help us celebrate the significant contributions which cooperatives make in our region. The competition provides opportunities for groups of students and staff to showcase their multi-disciplinary skills, through collaborative submission of short videos around the theme “What Makes Credit Unions Different”.

We invite your expressions of interest, and look forward to celebrating the International Year of the Cooperative with you and your school in 2012.
